You need only four steps to make your first entries and see your real picture.
If you realize your opening balance was wrong, edit the account and enter the correct balance. Your past transactions are preserved, the system simply recalculates the opening figure.
butce.app uses cumulative balance logic. Every entry directly affects the related account's balance.
Each account has a single live balance. Income increases it, expense decreases it, transfers move it between accounts. The same balance is shown consistently across all pages.
"Total Income", "Total Expense" and "Net Balance" on the Home page are for the selected period (e.g. this month) and are different from account balance.
You can delete or edit any transaction. Every change is automatically reflected in the related account's balance; no manual fix needed.
The system does not use soft delete. A deleted transaction cannot be recovered, but your balance stays consistent. Linked documents are removed with the transaction.
Anywhere you keep money is an account: your wallet, bank, credit card, even your gold.
| Type | Used for |
|---|---|
| Bank Account | Checking accounts, salary accounts |
| Cash | Wallet, safe, money in hand |
| Credit Card | Bonus, World, Maximum etc. Limit is tracked separately. |
| Overdraft | Overdraft-enabled bank accounts that go negative |
| Investment Account | Term deposits, funds, stocks |
| Meal Card | Meal cards such as Sodexo, Multinet, Setcard |
| Crypto Wallet | Exchange or wallet balances (if you keep their fiat value) |
| E-Money | Digital wallets like Papara, ininal |
| Gold | Balance is held in grams |
| Silver | Balance is held in grams |
When you edit the account and enter the new correct balance, the system does not touch your past entries; it only recalculates the opening balance so totals match the new figure.
Instead of deleting unused accounts, archive them. Archived accounts disappear from the active list and forms but keep their history.
Once you enter a statement day and a payment due day, the account card shows a four-line breakdown. The lines always add up to the card's total debt.
| Line | What it means |
|---|---|
| Statement balance | The closed statement waiting to be paid. Its due date is shown next to it. |
| Current period transactions | Single-payment spending since the last statement day. It lands on the next statement. |
| Current period installments | Installments falling on this period's statement. |
| Future installments | Installment load left for the coming months. |
The statement closes on the evening of the statement day, so a purchase made that day is still on the same statement. If the statement or due day falls on a weekend, the displayed date shifts to the next business day.
Banks hold some transactions for a few days before posting them, which pushes them onto the next statement. When that happens, the statement balance here differs from the one at your bank.
The item then counts toward the next statement period. The shift happens once; it is not pushed again in later months. Whether the hold lasts three days or twenty makes no difference, because the item moves by statement period, not by days.
One tick fixes three places: the statement breakdown on the account card, the card payment schedule on the Cash Flow page (the amount leaves your cash in the right month) and the statement comparison result (the item matches against the correct statement).
It does not touch the balance or the limit. The amount is already blocked on your card and your available limit is already reduced. If the authorization was cancelled (a hotel or car rental deposit, for example), delete the record instead of unticking the box.
Yes. If you owe money, enter the opening balance as a negative value. Example: for 8,500 ₺ debt, enter -8,500. As you pay, the balance moves toward 0; above 0 the card has spare cash on it.
Track your physical gold and silver in grams. The system converts to TRY automatically using the current rate.
25.5 for 25.5 grams of gold.Buying: use a Transfer from your TRY account to the gold account. Source: bank, Destination: gold account. The system uses the current rate to compute grams.
Selling: a Transfer in the opposite direction. Grams leave the gold account and TRY enters your bank account.
The Accounts page and Home page convert your total wealth to your preferred currency. Gold and silver grams are converted using the current TCMB gold/silver rate.
A quarter gold coin is roughly 1.75 g, half is 3.5 g and a full coin is about 7 g. For Cumhuriyet coins, ask your jeweler for the exact gram weight and add it to your total.
Each account is kept in its own currency. Totals are converted to your preferred currency using TCMB rates.
Currency and precious metal rates are fetched daily at 13:00 from TCMB. On weekends and holidays, the most recent business day rate is used.
Use the currency selector in the top right to change your preferred unit. Totals, charts and reports are shown in this unit. Each account's own currency stays unchanged.
When transferring between accounts in different currencies you enter the source and destination amounts separately. The system computes the rate. Example: you send 100 USD, 4,000 ₺ is received. The system records this as 1 USD = 40 ₺.
Income, expense and transfer records are managed in one place on the Transactions page. There is no separate "Income page" or "Expense page".
Use the Expense tab the same way. Expenses also support line items: instead of one 850 ₺ grocery entry, you can break it down ("bread 20, cheese 180, detergent 250..."). Item totals must equal the main amount.
Use Transfer when moving money between your own accounts. Paying a credit card, withdrawing cash, buying gold or exchanging currency are all transfers.
The filters at the top of the Transactions page let you narrow by date range, account, category, tag or type. With bulk select you can change the category or tag of many entries at once.
You can attach a receipt, invoice or photo from the transaction form. PDF, JPG and PNG are accepted, with a 5 MB per-file limit. The document is automatically linked to the transaction.
Categories answer "where did it go", tags answer "who, why, which project".
Each transaction has exactly one category. Categories are either income (Salary, Rent, Interest, Loan...) or expense (Grocery, Utilities, Education...). The system seeds common defaults; you can customize them on the Categories page.
A transaction can have many tags. Use them for horizontal grouping: family members (Can, Özge), projects (Holiday 2026, Wedding), trips (Antalya), work items, etc.
| Category | Used for |
|---|---|
| Non-Budget Income | Money received on behalf of others. Excluded from monthly income totals. |
| Non-Budget Expense | Spending on behalf of others. Excluded from monthly expense totals. |
| Loan | The income category used when a bank loan principal is deposited. Managed by the Loans page. |
| Loan Payment | The expense category created automatically when a loan installment is paid. |
A friend spent 500 ₺ on your card and later sent it back via Papara. Record the 500 ₺ purchase as Non-Budget Expense and the incoming 500 ₺ as Non-Budget Income. The two offset each other and don't pollute your budget.
Enter an installment purchase once and the system creates a separate record for each month.
From the Credit Card Installments menu you can see all active and completed installments. Click a group to open its payment plan.
Deleting an installment group removes all of its installments together. Linked documents are also removed. To cancel only part of a group, split off the paid installments first.
Credit card installments and bank loans are managed in different places. Add personal, vehicle or mortgage loans from the Loans page.
Personal, vehicle and mortgage loans. The system manages both the cash inflow and the monthly payments automatically.
When you add a loan, the system does two things:
The loan principal is real money entering your account, so it increases your balance and is recorded as income. Debt tracking is handled separately on the Loans page.
Enter the correct first installment date, fill in the number of installments already paid, and leave the account blank. The system tracks only the remaining debt and installments without touching your balance.
On the loan detail page, if there are unpaid installments with past due dates, the system shows a yellow warning. Use the Close Installments button to select how many to close. Closed installments do not affect your account balance and no expense entry is created. Useful for payments made before you started using butce.app.
Open the loan from the Loans page and click Pay Installment. The system marks the installment as paid, deducts its amount from your account, and creates an expense under "Loan Payment". Remaining installments and total debt are updated.
To pay off early or make an extra payment, use Extra Payment on the loan's detail page. The system applies the amount to the principal and recalculates the remaining schedule.
You can edit or delete a loan. Deleting also removes all payment records, the principal income entry and linked documents. Your account balance is corrected automatically.
Set a monthly cap per category. Get warned as you approach the limit.
Download Template gives you an Excel with all your categories. Fill the amounts and use Upload Template to import. Handy for planning many categories at once.
You can clone last month's budget in one click and then tweak it.
When a category reaches 80% of its budget, the Home and Budget pages warn you. At 100%, it is highlighted in red. This is informational only; you can still record transactions.
See all upcoming payments at a glance on a calendar.
The Payment Calendar shows these on a monthly view:
Click a day to see everything due that day. The daily total appears in the corner.
Shows how your money changes over the next 12 months, so you can see a tight month before it arrives.
Cash flow covers your liquid accounts only. A credit card balance is debt, not cash, so it leaves the table in the month you pay the card, not when you spend. The remaining card debt appears at the bottom of the table for information and is never added to your cash.
| Row | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Opening cash | Money in every account except credit cards. Future-dated entries are removed from today and processed in their own month. |
| Forecast income | Each income category's historical monthly average. Income already recorded this month is deducted from it. |
| Cash expenses | The part of your expense average that leaves cash accounts. Card spending appears in the card payment rows instead. |
| Card payment, scheduled | Closed statement debt and installments falling due. |
| Card payment, forecast | New debt expected from your historical card spending average. |
| Loan payments | Unpaid installments on the loan schedule. Overdue but unpaid installments land in the current month. |
| Closing cash | Opening + income − cash expenses − card payments − loans. Each month's close is the next month's opening. |
The four cards on top summarise: cash today, credit card debt, the lowest month in the next 12 and the amount left after 12 months. The lowest month is there so you spot a squeeze in advance.
Card payment rows use the card's statement and due day. If you have not entered them, the 28th is assumed as the statement day and the 10th of the following month as the due day. If you flag an expense as pending authorization, the amount leaves your cash in the correct month.
When a category's monthly average is calculated, its two highest months are left out and the rest are averaged. This stops a single large purchase from spreading across every month. Low and zero months are counted as they are, because they are part of the category's real pattern.
Items that occur once a month (rent, dues, bills) are expected at full amount until they are paid. Items spread across days (groceries, eating out) are scaled to the days left in the month.
Every category falls into one of three types. You can change the type from the Income breakdown and Expense breakdown dialogs; your choice overrides the automatic rule and is remembered.
| Type | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Recurring | Written to every month using the average. Rent, groceries, bills. |
| Seasonal | Not spread out; written at full amount to the calendar month it happened in before. Vehicle tax, insurance, school fees. |
| One-off | Never enters the forecast but stays visible in the breakdown. A phone, an appliance. |
Seasonal items are only recognised once the same calendar month completes for the second time. With less than a year of history, yearly items will not show up and you need to enter those months yourself.
The Income breakdown, Expense breakdown, Card schedule and Loan schedule buttons above the table open the items behind a month's figure. That is where "what is the 1,369.91 ₺ in June" gets answered.
Until you have at least 3 months of data, you fill in the forecast income, cash expense and forecast card payment rows yourself. Opening cash, scheduled card payments and loan installments already come from your records. Once the third month completes, the system starts calculating and offers to take those rows over; in any month you decline, your figure stays.
The Non-Budget Income and Non-Budget Expense categories are excluded from the forecast entirely, so amounts paid on someone else's behalf and tracked on the Debts page do not inflate your cash flow. Installments are also kept out of the historical average; each one is processed on its own due date and stops producing monthly expense once it ends.
The figures are forecasts derived from your history, not a confirmed payment plan. The method keeps improving with feedback, so the same month's figure can change in later versions. If a row looks wrong, write to [email protected].
Extracts trends, category distribution and comparisons from your last 12 months.
Non-Budget Income and Non-Budget Expense are excluded from analysis totals so your real budget is visible.
Manage upcoming inspections, insurance, driver's license, passport, subscriptions and more from one place.
For each item you pick the due date and how many days in advance to remind you. As the date approaches, you receive an email and the day is marked on the Payment Calendar.
Mark an item Complete to close it. For periodic renewals (e.g. yearly casco) use Copy to create the next-period item from the existing one.
Receipts, invoices, contracts, vehicle papers... all in one place.
You can upload documents two ways:
Search runs against the document name, notes and the linked transaction's description and category. Separate multiple terms with space or +; results contain all of them.
Export, import and use bulk templates.
Download all your income, expense, transfer, account, category and tag data as Excel. Each data type is on its own sheet for easy review.
Download the template, edit it in Excel and upload it back. Valid rows are saved; invalid ones are shown with their reason. Dates, account names and category names must match exactly.
Free calculators you can use without an account.

If you get paid on a day other than the 1st (e.g. 15th, 21st, 25th), open the Preferences card on the Account Management page and pick the day your month starts. Budget, analysis, cash flow and summary cards are computed against this period.
Confirm your current password and set a new one on the Account Management page. Forgot it? Use Forgot Password on the login page for an email reset link.
To fully delete your account, submit a deletion request from Account Management. All financial data, documents and login info are erased irreversibly.
Each user's data is stored in a separate database. SSL, single-session security and GDPR-aligned infrastructure are in place. Your bank password or card details are never requested.
The usual reason is expenses still pending authorization. Banks hold some transactions for a few days and post them to the next statement, while the app counts them on the date you made the purchase. Fix it by editing the expense on the Transactions page and ticking the Pending authorization box. The date stays unchanged, the item moves to the next statement, and the cash flow and statement comparison follow along.
A bank loan principal is real money entering your account. The system therefore adds the principal to the chosen account's balance and creates an income entry under "Loan". The debt side is tracked separately on the Loans page. Seeing the same loan as + on the account balance and as a debt in the Loans list is expected.
Open a Gold or Silver account and balances are kept in grams. Buy and sell with Transfer: from TRY to gold, source is the bank, destination is the gold account. The system uses the current TCMB rate to convert. In total wealth view, gold is converted to your preferred currency.
No. When you create a loan, the system records the principal as income on the chosen account automatically. You don't need a manual income entry.
On the Transactions page open the Transfer tab. Source: your bank account, Destination: your credit card. This reduces the bank balance and moves the card balance toward zero.
Open the group on the Credit Card Installments page, delete it and create a new one with the correct details. Deletion removes all installments and linked documents together.
For security, each account is single-user. Use tags with family member names: "Can", "Özge" tags let you filter who spent what.
From Data Management you can download all your income, expense, transfer, account and category data as Excel. The same template can be used to bulk import.
TRY, USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, CHF, JPY, CNY, RUB, AZN, PLN currencies plus gold and silver in grams. Rates are updated daily from TCMB.
After the 14-day trial, your data is kept for one more month. During that time only the Account Management page is accessible. Subscribe to continue with everything intact.
Yes! The Android app is live on Google Play: Download on Google Play. You can also use butce.app fully mobile-friendly from any browser.
No automatic bank integration. You can enter transactions manually or bulk-import them using the Excel template from Data Management.
Yes. Open the Preferences card on the Account Management page and set "Month start day" to 21. Dashboard, Budget, Analysis, Cash Flow, Payment Calendar and other period-based pages will treat 21.X to 20.(X+1) as "this month". Transaction dates and installment schedules are not affected. Default is 1; the system behaves like a calendar month until you change it.
